How Often Should You Replace Your Kitchen Appliances?

Most quality kitchen appliances typically do not need to be serviced by professionals yearly, but there are a few small steps that you can take to make sure everything in your kitchen is running smooth daily. Maintenance is vital for your kitchen appliances, and in order to reduce replacements and save you money, check out these quick tips:

Refrigerator

It’s the kitchen appliance that keeps all your food fresh and cold, so keeping the refrigerator top-notch is a major priority. A quality refrigerator can last anywhere between 10-15 years. In order to keep your refrigerator performing at its best, be sure to keep an eye on the condenser coils, located on the back of the fridge or across the bottom. If they are dirty or covered with dust, then it’s important to clean them in order for the refrigerator to function properly. Feel free to locate the coils at least twice a year, unplug the refrigerator, and give them a quick vacuum!

Dishwasher

The predicted lifespan of a quality dishwasher can range between 8-10 years. Although the dishwasher is meant to clean your dishes, the dishwasher itself also needs a good cleaning every now and then! The spinning arms inside a dishwasher are able to do most of the work at hand, but keep an eye on the tiny holes on the surface of these arms as well. When leftover food debris builds up in these holes, the arms cannot properly do their job. Using a toothpick or any small, handheld object (such as pliers) to remove the debris from the spinning arm’s holes can help your dishwasher in the long-run.

Ranges

The most notable tip for maintaining your range is to merely keep it clean! When cleaned regularly, stove tops can last for over 15 years! As with all kitchen appliances, cleaning the range is not only necessary for upkeep, but it also makes cooking less overwhelming. Simply clean your range with soap and water, but be sure to use less water around the dials (we suggest a damp cloth in order to reduce any issues.) We are proud to carry quality stove top brands, such as Viking, which offers select ranges in beautiful stainless steel finishes. To keep the range shining daily after a good cleaning, perhaps use a stainless steel polisher! Just be sure to read the directions on the bottle.
